About London Academy
A COMMUNITY OF BIKE RACERS.
We are a collective of racers, riders, and mentors united by a single mission: More Women Racing Bikes.
Based in London but with a reach that extends far beyond, we are an academy dedicated to breaking down barriers in cycling. Whether you are pinning on a number for the first time or chasing podiums in the National Series, we provide the infrastructure, community, and knowledge to help you thrive.
OUR PRINCIPLES
This is how we operate. Important to each and every one of us, we hope they resonate with you too
-
Power of the Community
We look out for each other. A community of supportive bike racers that respect and champion each other.
-
Encourage progression
Finding your feet as a racer or hoping to ride the TdF. With our racing pathway, if you have an idea of where you want to go, we’ll support it.
-
Learn, f*ck up, learn
A supportive space to figure it out. It might not work out the first time or the 34th time, but we’re here for it.
-
Grow the peloton
Inspiring more women and girls to race bikes. Forging relationships with our local clubs and cycling groups.
-
build confidence
Harnessing the power of competitive sport to improve all areas of our lives, a positive force within personal development. ‘Happy Head, Happy Legs’.
-
support the competition
We look for every opportunity to help others. Pinning numbers? Yes. Directions to sign on? Ask us. The smiling faces in the car park - that’s us.
-
share knowledge
From riders, community workshops and our mentoring programme. We look for opportunities to share what we know to others.
-
have fun
Exactly that.
What We Do
Racing
You’ll see us across Road, Criterium, Track, and Cyclocross disciplines, competing at local, regional, and national levels.
Development
Through coached sessions and team training, we focus on skills, tactics, and physical performance.
Community
We build a network of riders who support one another on and off the bike, from mechanical help to finish-line cheers.
The heart of our development pathway is our Mentoring Programme. Now in its 4th year, the programme matches experienced, knowledgeable current or past racers with riders who would benefit from a mentor during their racing journey.
We believe mentoring provides a huge benefit in navigating the sport. The programme has already successfully matched over 50 mentors with 50 mentees.
How it works: We pair those looking for guidance with experienced riders to offer advice on training, race craft, and confidence(+ much more).
Who it is for: The programme is open to all women, all trans, and all non-binary people.
Expanding Reach: We have expanded the programme beyond just our own team members, opening applications to new mentees and mentors from the wider cycling community.
The Mentoring Programme
